What Is Wood Badge?

Wood Badge is Scouting's premier training course. It's the ultimate leadership training experience designed to meet the leadership needs for all Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, and Venturing leaders as well as council and district leaders and Scouting professionals.

Lord Baden-Powell originally designed it so that Scouters could learn, in as practical a way possible, the skills and methods of Scouting. It is first and foremost, learning by doing.

Earn the Wood Badge Alumni 70th Anniversary Service Award

Join your Denver Area Council Wood Badge Family in celebrating the 70th anniversary of Wood Badge in the United States with a special award available only in 2018! The American Wood Badge Alumni 70th Anniversary Service Award can be earned by completing five of nine requirements - think of this like a second, easier-to-complete Wood Badge ticket.

Follow these three easy steps:

  1. Download the 70th Anniversary Award Application
  2. Complete and submit the Denver Area Council 70th Anniversary Form and pay $8 for patch, certificate, and fee
  3. Send the completed Anniversary Award (from step 1) to Jason Pettis or Royd Despain
Once processed, you’ll qualify for a limited edition patch and a certificate (suitable for framing – frame not included) to be presented at the Fall Wood Badge Breakfast. The deadline for submission is August 15, 2018 and there is an $8 processing fee for patch and certificate. Payment will only be collected online through the Denver Area Council 70th Anniversary Form.
