NYLT StaffNational Youth Leadership Training Staff at Big Horn

National Youth Leadership Training (aka NYLT - lovengly known in Colorado as "Big Horn") is an exciting, action-packed program designed to provide all 13 to 20 year old youth members of the Boy Scouts of America with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home units and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others. Leadership, fun, challenge, adventure - NYLT offers all of those and much more.

Every NYLT at Big Horn course operates according to Scouting ideals – those of Boy Scouting and Venturing. Each participant and staff member is welcomed, appreciated, and valued. Each year we select the "best of the best" from the Denver Area Council to be NYLT Staff. Are you up for the challenge?

What happened to just "Big Horn"?

From the 2016 syllabus: "The local traditional names were phased out for 2009 courses; all courses should be known as NYLT. Joint names (i.e., Brownsea NYLT) are not to be used.". We want to emphasize that participants are taking part in a National training course, and that the course they experience here matches courses run by other Boy Scout Councils anywhere in the United States. That being said, we want to respect and honor our heritage, thus we preserve the Big Horn icons, patches, council strips, and name while on course.
